*Welcome to our MenTalk RunandTalk Together Event*

We are so excited to restart our MenTalk RunandTalk just for Men

This is an opportunity for men to get together to walk or run and combine the benefits of exercise for wellbeing and socialising in a safe non judgemental environment.

#RunandTalk is suitable for all abilities, whether you choose to run the 5k or walk the 2.5k route, our together volunteers will be supporting you all the way. The event will start at the Newbold Comyn Arms where we will run or walk around the town returning for a drink and chat.

We will be adhering to the latest government guidelines regarding coronavirus and as such this event will have limited places. This event must be booked either through the RunTogether Website https://groups.runtogether.co.uk/MentalHealthTogether or using the RunTogether Runner app available through the app store

Please read our COVID 19 statement before attending this event.

Physical activity has huge benefits to our wellbeing. Even a short burst of 10 minutes’ brisk walking increases our mental alertness, energy and positive mood. It can increase our self-esteem and can reduce stress and anxiety. It also plays a role in preventing the development of mental health problems and in improving the quality of life of people experiencing mental health problems.

We also know how hard it is for men to open up and express their feelings. If you’re reading this please answer these questions openly and honestly to yourself....

How do you feel?

Can you talk about your mental health?

Have you a friendship that you can confide in?

If you find it hard to answer these question this may be because men don’t talk about their feelings like women do. From a young age men have been made to feel that talking about feelings is a sign of weakness. Whereas the truth is completely the opposite, expressing feelings is a sign of strength and self awareness.

Suppressing feelings puts huge pressure on men and this is not good for your mental health.

At Mental Health Together we provide a safe space for men to connect with other men and to express their feelings. Please join Jase and Dan our Together Volunteers who share their own experiences of mental health and how being open and honest has helped them.

Its difficult to a start a conversation about our mental health and keeping silent can have a devastating impact on the lives of so many, especially men. Middle aged men are one of the most high-risk groups for suicide, they remain three times more likely to take their own lives than women.

Mental health issues can affect anyone and can be caused by a number of factors, including bereavement, unemployment, finance and debt issues, family and relationship problems, social isolation, low self-esteem, drug and alcohol issues and many other personal factors.

Mental Health Together believe that no one should face a mental health problem alone and that by talking and helping each other we are creating a safe and open environment to talk about it at our MenTalk RunandTalk event.

Men please join the event this is the first brave step you could make to acknowledge your mental health.

This is a MEN ONLY event, minimum age 16 years.

Please join us we look forward to seeing you!

*Please note everyone must complete a Together Run and Talk Disclaimer before commencing an organised together event*
